I hope you are well! We had a fun/crazy week filled with our class government system. We had lots of billls passed by legislature, two vetoed by the President, and one overturned by legislature. Many tickets were given out by our officers and the Judicial branch served well at their post. We even ammended part of our Constitution after we realized the wording was fuzzy. All in all, it was a great learning expericence for the class. (I have a feeling they had the most fun with the gum chewing and five minute naps after lunch, though) :)
Students are still having trouble turning in 4th grade appropriate reading logs. I had 7 students today with either no log or a log that only contained one night of reading and no parent signatures. The expectation is that they are reading a minimum of 3 nights per week and hopefully over the weekends as well.
As you all know the big day is next week- Austin Field Trip!!! The class is SO excited and just couldn't believe there was an actual bathroom on the bus! I hope you all received the detailed letter that went home in Tuesday folders regarding the field trip. Please make sure you arrive at school on time Friday morning and are here promptly at 6pm to pick up your child. If you are a chaperone on the field trip, I will email you on Monday or Tuesday with the bus that you will be on and which child/children you will be chaperoning. Thanks in advance!
Please look for a practice TAKS writing sample from your child in next week's Tuesday folders. They truly worked hard on this piece. I will score them this weekend and get them to you on Tuesday, with the TAKS rubric attached.
I also want to thank you in advance for those who are able to come out on Sunday to support my run. I truly appreciate it and look forward to seeing you. I think my husband, his mom, and our two children are going to try to stand in the same place as all of you, but we'll see if that works out- you never know!
Have a great weekend!
