Hello Parents,
First I just want to say thank you so much for all of the wonderful treats, cards, flowers, fruits, and gifts for teacher appreciation week. I truly enjoyed them and I'm pretty sure I gained at least two pounds! I really am thankful though to work with such fabulous students and parents at a school like Roberts.
As you know, Stanford begins on Monday. Please, please make sure your child is on time. If you arrive late and we have already begun testing, they will not be allowed into the room and will have to wait until we are done and then make the test up on Friday. Testing is Monday - Friday and the schedule is as follows:
We have also started our technology component for this planner. The students are using Photo Story 3 to create digital movies about the Greek god/goddess of their choice. We are in the storyboard phase right now and will complete those early next week and then begin uploading images to use in our movies. The class is very excited about this project.
This week they worked either alone or in pairs to create a poster about their god/goddess of choice and will finish those next week.
Lizz Spencer visited us again on Wednesday and the students each made a clay frieze. Lizz will fire them and bring them back so the students can paint them. On May 18th she will return to do mosaics and on May 25th the students will make masks. I will need two parent volunteers to help with this, so if you are available please let me know.
Our class party is on June 2nd from 9am-10:30. This is a toga party where students wear togas and accessorize them to the god/goddess/monster of their choice. A letter is coming home soon with the pertinent informtation.
Upcoming dates:
May 7- Carnival 10-2pm
May 9-13- Stanford Testing
May 10- Guest speakers on Pompeii
May 12- Fine Arts Night
May 20- All library books due
May 25-27-Portfolio picnics (more information to come)
May 30- No School- Memorial Day
June 2- Class party
Have a great weekend and I hope to see all of you tomorrow!
