Math Workshop: In math next week we will classify quadrangles and triangles. Students will identify polygons and use geoboards to create different polygons and quadrangles. Students will also classify triangles as right, acute, or obtuse. On Thursday, all fourth grade students will take a math benchmark test. Students will also learn the formula for solving to find the perimeter of squares and rectangles.
Writing Workshop: On Monday we will review everything we’ve covered this year in expository writing and finish up any activities from Camp Write a Lot that we didn’t get to finish last week. The writing STAAR test is on Tuesday, March 29th. Please make sure your child is rested and on time.
Grammar: In grammar we will wrap up our review on homophones, transition, and clauses.
Reading/Daily 5: Next week in reading we will review author’s purpose and point of view. Students will view a fun video that reviews point of view. They will also use picture books and their current novels to find the author’s purpose and point of view. Students will do partner and independent practice and take a quiz. We are starting a new class read aloud on Tuesday- Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library.
Social Studies: We begin week 19 in Texas Studies Weekly- Texas as a Republic. Students will learn how the Presidents of the Republic of Texas helped Texas remain an independent nation for nine years.
Science/IB: This week students learn about the rock cycle. Students will view diagrams, watch videos, and even observe a really neat experiment watching a sugar cube go through the stages of the rock cycle. Students will be quizzed on this.
